New York Comic Con is the largest entertainment show on the East Coast and the last major comic book convention of the year. It will be held in Javits Center and will from October 4 (Thursday) to October 7 (Sunday).
There are a lot of things to watch out for especially in the panel list.
For the comics-related panels:
On the first day, DC Comics kickstarts with a panel with co-publishers Dan Didio and Jim Lee as they give an overview of their upcoming titles. Followed by Image Comics that will have a presentation that highlights its current and upcoming horror titles in a group discussion about the genre.
For the second day, DC Vertigo has been promising its matured-oriented contents to head into 2019 “in a big way” and guarantees more surprises to be revealed in their panel. Next is a panel that will spotlight Geoff Johns and present must-see information about his current and upcoming titles. Then, Marvel Comics’s flagship hero, Spider-Man will have a panel that will include exclusive links at the upcoming Spidey-centric crossover event Spider-Geddon.
More on the third day, DC Comics will have a panel with one of their most prominent and best-selling writer and have a look at the Eisner Award-winning writer’s process and a peek at what’s more to come. And as this year marks the 80th anniversary of “Superman” by Joe Siegel and Jerry Schuster back in 1939 and so DC Comics will hold a special highlight for the “Man of Steel”, to showcase the history and the various adaptations over the years while teasing what’s next for Superman. On the other hand, Marvel’s Next Big Thing presentation will provide announcements for their new titles and guarantee exclusive sneak peeks at Aaron’s upcoming “Conan the Barbarian” relaunch and Cates’ “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
And on the final day, Marvel Comics will talk about the upcoming relaunch of “Uncanny X-Men”, the recent return of “Wolverine”, and what the X-Men is up to next. DC closes their presence in this year’s NYCC with a look at all the major developments for DC and they tease that there is an “all-star” lineup of guests.
Then for the TV series panels:
The very first is the panel for She-Ra and the Princesses of Power promises an extended first look at the series ahead of its full premiere in November. Followed by DC Universe which is the premium streaming service of DC Comics that will feature an online library of DC’s comic titles and a collection of past DC Comics adaptations. Next is the upcoming series based of Darick Robertson’s long-running comic book series “The Boys” which will have a panel that will feature the first footage of the adaptation.
Another one is the Amazon‘s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “Good Omens” that will have a presentation with the appearance of Gaiman along with some of the cast members. Then Marvel‘s “Daredevil” with the rumors of the third season, the panel will offer an extensive look at the upcoming season and hints on several surprise reveals. Lastly, Dark Horse Comics’ “The Umbrella Academy” will have a panel that provides a first book of the new comic book series as well as tease the upcoming Netflix adaptation.
And lastly, for the movie panels:
It begins with Ralph Breaks the Internet they will unveil previously unseen footage while providing behind-the-scenes look at the sequel. Next is Dragon Ball Super: Broly which marks the first in-canon story and the conclusion of the story and they will be joined by series director Nagamine and others from the English voice cast. Then for the classic Dark Horse Comics series “Hellboy” which introduces a new cast and is most likely to show a peek at the footage from the adaptation. Followed by a panel for “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” though the exact details regarding the presentation is still a secret, it was said that the voice actors will attend to unveil some new footage from the film. Then for “Reign of the Supermen” will be of the screenwriters, voice cast and other unannounced actors.
Lastly, a panel for “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” on the last day and up to now the specifics are still unannounced other than that writer-director Dean Deblois will lead the panel with the film’s voice cast teased to join him.
It is indeed an exciting four-day event filled with amazing list of panels that ranges from comic books to TV series to movies for fans to check out and learn from!
