This alumnus of the University of the Philippines, who is as loca as crazy gets, kicked off his writing career when he won a national essay-writing contest after he graduated from high school. He eventually pursued visual arts and later found himself writing again. With this, he involved himself with several writing workshops and fellowships, including the recently concluded Ateneo Libulan LGBT+ Writers’ Workshop, which was held in Davao City. His work “Fresh Start and Broken Ends” made it to the Creative Non-Fiction Category.

He also went to the fellowship of Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo (LIRA) in 2013 and 2014 to learn the forms and foundations of writing in his mother tongue. He eventually contributed to several chapbooks and poem anthologies of different publishing companies and independent ones. His poem “Balahibong Pusa” was featured in Liwayway Magazine in 2014.

He was the last person to join the EPIK team in 2018 as a writer. Currently, he is writing one of our unannounced title releases, which will also be released as a motion picture this 2019.

Carlo Rey Vidamo–aka Kaka to his colleagues, family, and friends–knows how to paint, write and sing–but he can never dance for his life.
